Confidence produces action. Action leads to progress. Nothing moves unless somebody makes the first step.
Confident people are those that inspire others to move forward. Leaders, visionaries, successful people believe in themselves and make others believe in themselves too.
What is Confidence?
Confidence is a mindset, one of the most powerful there is.
When we believe in ourselves, we act accordingly. In time we start to feel strong, powerful, and determined.
Have you ever noticed that in classrooms, in churches, and in any presentation rooms, the back seats always fill up first? How come people are always moving to the back of the room, and avoid the front seats?
Most people see the front seat as the wrong option, at one point in their lives. When they are in the front seat, they are exposed, close to the source of action and they are uncomfortable. This is because at that point these people are lacking confidence. Moving to the back of the room is only a symptom of this confidence lack.
How to Build Confidence and a Strong Mindset?
The best way to build up a strong mindset is to simply practice it. That sounds simple, but it is not easy. But we can always start by taking the front seat, even if it feels uncomfortable. When others are running in one direction, to be the one that acts differently can be scary. This is normal, it’s natural.
On the other hand, being confident and courageous, is unnatural. Looking back at the old stories, at historical events, we can see clearly that those that acted bravely, those that created a movement, fought to protect the weak, are those that acted unnaturally. Those that behaved differently.
Another great way to learn how to be confident is to look people in the eyes. How a person uses his eyes tells a lot about them. When we see somebody that avoids making eye contact with us, we become suspicious, right away.
When we fail to make eye contact with another person, we tell them that we feel unworthy, that we don’t believe in ourselves enough, that we feel inferior to them. Looking people in the eyes, is one of the most important thing that we can do to build our self confidence and get other people’s attention and respect. When we do that, we tell them that we are serious, that we have nothing to hide and we are not afraid.
Now it’s YOUR turn
- Do you usually make eye contact with a stranger?
