Persistence in hard times. The power of persistence

The power of persistence representative image. Quote from Maya Angelou "Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.”

Our hardest times, if we take advantage of the power of persistence, leads to the greatest moments of our lives. Tough situations will build a strong mindset in the end, but with only one condition. To keep going and be persistent

Most people nowadays are willing to try things, especially if they believe that those things can work. But once things fail, once plans are going sideways, they give up, as normal.

The danger is that once somebody fails once, they are never trying again because they are afraid of failure. But that is the exact moment when you need the most the power of persistence. Therefore we need to remember what Winston Churchill said

Quote mark

“Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”

But the truth is that success means nothing when people lose enthusiasm or they quit. Even life without enthusiasm doesn’t mean much.

In order to keep the enthusiasm alive, I’ve started an experiment called Minutes Mindset in 2019. The experiment consisted of writing an interesting, challenging article, 3 minutes long, that builds mindset and makes people ask questions. Asking interesting questions is one of the most important skills that people can learn.

The journey was challenging. On some days the ideas simply refused to come. On some days they were flowing naturally. But what I’ve learned is that persistence is the key factor, that changed my life in multiple ways.

I’ve discovered that sitting in front of a white paper, trying to come up with something interesting, can be demotivating. I’ve discovered that going out in the world and saying “Look, this is what I’ve made”, can be tough. But I also discovered that things can get better with time and practice. That through this exercise, I managed to touch the minds and souls of some people.

This is true in endurance sports also. Without enthusiasm, discipline, and persistence to always make that extra mile, there is no chance to make a performance.

Therefore, don’t be afraid of failure. Your inspiration to write YOUR own story comes by starting with the first steps.

Now it’s YOUR turn

  1. What are your plans for the next year?
  2. Are you a doer or a thinker?

Through this article series, we are helping you build a solid mindset. We are strong believers that once we can understand a subject, we can engage with the idea or refuse it altogether. Both ways are helping us grow and develop our own way of seeing the world.
